Key Responsibilities

  • Month-End Close: Executes assigned close tasks against the close calendar, including journal entry preparation, accrual booking, and subledger tie-outs. Identifies opportunities to compress the close timeline.
  • Media & Marketing Accruals: Partners directly with the Marketing team each month to gather spend data, validate vendor invoices against committed campaigns, and book accurate media accruals across digital, brand, and lead-gen channels.
  • Account Reconciliations: Prepares monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, including bank, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, and intercompany. Researches and resolves reconciling items.
  • Flux Analysis: Performs monthly P&L and balance sheet flux analysis against budget, prior month, and prior year. Documents drivers and escalates unusual variances to the Accounting Manager and CFO.
  • AI-Enabled Automation: Uses AI tools (primarily Gemini) to automate recurring close activities — reconciliation preparation, variance commentary drafting, journal entry templating, and supporting documentation. Identifies new automation opportunities across the close.
  • Journal Entries: Prepares and posts recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, allocations, capital asset entries, and reclassifications. Maintains supporting documentation.
  • Intercompany & Subsidiary Accounting: Supports accounting for Evergreen Settlement Services and Nine Street Insurance, including intercompany transactions and eliminations.
  • AP & Expense Support: Reviews coding on AP invoices and Ramp credit card transactions to ensure accurate GL classification.
  • Audit Support: Prepares assigned PBC schedules and reconciliations for external audit and responds to auditor requests.
  • Process Documentation: Maintains written procedures for assigned close tasks and reconciliations. Updates documentation as processes change.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Supports special projects, including operational analyses, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including month-end close ownership.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks experience preferred) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas).
  • Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) for accounting or analytical work strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Ramp, Paylocity, or similar systems a plus.
  • Real estate, brokerage, or title industry experience a plus.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain accounting topics to non-finance partners (particularly Marketing).

Salary and Benefits Information

Compensation will be a combination of base salary and quarterly performance-based incentives. Benefits include but not limited to: Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, 401k with company match, Paid time off and company holidays.
