About the role
The Staff Accountant partners with the Controller in managing the daily operations of the accounting department of the Homebuilding entities. Other duties will be assigned in a progressive manner.
Responsibilities
- Provide essential support to the Controller, ensuring accurate and timely financial reports monthly.
- Responsible for key reconciliations such as Balance Sheets, Intercompany accounts, and Job Cost information.
- Aid the Controller in annual tax preparation by providing requested information to our tax accounting firm.
- Accounting, financial management, and bank draw process for certain development entities.
- Manage credit card approval and payment procedures.
- Create and provide ad-hoc reports as required.
- Participate in the preparation of financial reports for leadership and management.
- Prepare the annual budget for various entities.
- Collaborate with the organization to improve business efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Maintain and document accounting procedures & policies with a continual improvement approach.
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of 4-year Degree in Accounting or related field.
- Mandatory Experience/Background: 3 plus years of accounting experience. Must have excellent interpersonal skills which include, having patience, being approachable, and capable of motivating others. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the capability of being comfortable around higher management is essential. CPA preferred. Must be able to follow and model the Company Core Values – Quality, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Commitment.
- Desired Experience/Qualifications: Experience in Construction and/or Development companies. Proven ability to build strong business relationships/partnerships. Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Sage 300 or similar.

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time.
