About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering to serve as a technical leader throughout the entire development lifecycle, including programs, pursuits, and basic research. In this role, you will collaborate closely with customers, product/program managers, engineers, operations, and third-party vendors to ensure systems and products meet or exceed customer needs. You will contribute to a heterogenous blend of embedded hardware, firmware, and software-based flight test instrumentation products while tackling unique engineering challenges to support next-generation technology for U.S. and allied warfighters.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for development of program technical baseline.
• Work closely with the program Chief System Engineer to develop verifiable technical requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and direction to Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Firmware designers to ensure design success.
• Control and develop requirements and verification plans while interacting with customers to solve technical problems and identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain the technical integrity of the system through the full product/program lifecycle, including proposals, design, integration & test, verification, and sustainment.
• Decompose requirements to drive a risk-mitigated development plan, oversee system integration, and lead requirements-based verification using test threads.
• Serve as the technical point of contact for the customer.
• Brief leadership on technical status.
• Identify, track, mitigate, manage, and disposition program-level risks and opportunities.
• Lead Root Cause / Corrective Action investigations associated with Qualification or Acceptance test failures, including managing the investigation and briefing internal and external customers.
• Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product.
• Use data models, hardware/software interfaces, synchronous processing constructs, real-time processing (including CPU/FPGA/GPU fabric), precision time distribution and discipline, and data interfaces.
• Perform trade studies on a variety of systems and components.
• Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Skills

• Extensive experience in digital electronics, FPGA/VHDL, and software development of custom electronic subsystems.
• Experience in detailed design for Telemetry or similar mixed-signal products.
• Experience or knowledge of Government contract acquisition lifecycle (a plus).
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
• Experience developing technical or cost proposals (including generating basis of estimates) in a defense contracting environment.
• Master’s degree in Systems, Electrical, or similar Engineering discipline.
• 4 years of experience in digital electronics, FPGA/VHDL, and software development and integration programs.
• 2 years of experience with requirements management along with DOORs, JAMA, or equivalent requirements management tools.

Schedule

9/80 schedule: employees work 9 out of 14 days (totaling 80 hours) and have every other Friday off.
