About the role

The Senior Project Controls Specialist will provide project controls support to Aecon’s ongoing mega-projects in the Nuclear sector. Reporting to the Project Controls Director, this role includes completing all roles & responsibilities expected of a Project Controls Specialist, assisting in the development of project cost management systems, and providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all roles & responsibilities expected of a Project Controls Specialist
  • Aid in developing, establishing, and maintaining the project's cost management systems
  • Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings
  • Mentor and guide junior team members
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on customized reporting tools & dashboards
  • Monitor project health & performance; ensure key performance metrics are well articulated to project leadership
  • Conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.)
  • Support the implementation of an Earned Value Management plan
  • Develop and implement project-specific Project Controls plans, tools & templates
  • Assist with the development & implementation of a project-specific change management plan
  • Support the development of a project-specific Schedule Management Plan
  • Identify & lead rebaseline efforts when required
  • Manage subcontractor schedules (if applicable)
  • Administer Aecon's P6 database
  • Develop and maintain basis of schedule
  • Collaborate on early identification & assessment of critical project issues and risks
  • Facilitate periodic project review meetings
  • Proactively identify schedule variances, logic gaps etc.
  • Facilitate the development of recovery plans & other remedial action plans

  • ERP Systems Expertise (e.g. SAP, Oracle, JDE)
  • Cost Management or Estimating Systems Expertise (e.g. Hard Dollar, EcoSys, PRISM)

Qualifications

This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
