Senior Solutions Engineer

About the role

C Spire’s Solutions Engineer plays a pivotal role as the foremost technical expert supporting our sales team. They collaborate closely with sales and prospective clients to discern technical requirements and craft sophisticated managed cloud and/or network designs tailored to each opportunity. The Solutions Engineer translates technical details into comprehensive orders using solution specifications and topology diagrams, conducts pre-sales site surveys, and assists in training sales and customer service teams on products. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential to succeed in this dynamic position.

Responsibilities

• Engage in managed cloud, network, dedicated internet access (DIA), and software-defined branch interconnect (SBI) deals.
• Collaborate with customers and prospects to identify needs, goals, and challenges.
• Conduct pre-sales and/or post-sales site surveys to fully understand customer requirements.
• Work closely with the sales team to develop tailored customer solutions.
• Provide technical sales support and demonstrate product features at customer/prospect sites.
• Assist in product training for sales and customer service teams, leveraging senior Solutions Engineer resources.
• Develop and sustain effective communication and relationships with internal teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 1–3 years of telecommunications or IT-related work experience required.
• Basic understanding of compute infrastructure, virtualization, networking, routing, and switching.
• Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, Visio, and Outlook.
• Ability to quickly grasp technical products or services and effectively convey their value.
• Strong relationship-building skills to foster and maintain client and internal relationships.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills for managing multiple projects.

Solutions Engineer II – Additional Responsibilities

• Handle more complex DIA, Wi-Fi, voice solutions, and small-to-medium multi-site network solutions.
• Demonstrate expertise in network design, including Ethernet, fiber optics, MPLS, Alcatel-Lucent TIMOS, TCP/IP, VoIP, SIP, and Wi-Fi.
• Bring experience in managed and cloud services with a solid understanding of SD-WAN.
• General network experience and familiarity with routing protocols (BGP, Static Routes, EIGRP, OSPF, etc.).
• Participate in occasional telecom conferences to represent C Spire and engage with partners.
• Understand the lifecycle of pre-sales and post-sales for the product set.
• Contribute to new product development and mentor other solutions engineering team members.

Solutions Engineer II – Additional Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in the telecom industry or related IT field.

Senior Solutions Engineer – Additional Responsibilities

• Extensive experience in managed and cloud services with deep expertise in cloud, SaaS, financial, and enterprise verticals.
• Proficiency with Dell, VMware, and HAAS and advanced technologies.
• Engage with highly complex DIA, Wi-Fi, voice solutions, and medium-to-large multi-site network solutions.
• Hands-on experience designing SD-WAN solutions and advanced VoIP solutions, especially in enterprise SIP contexts.
• Mastery of advanced network design across Ethernet, fiber optics, MPLS, Alcatel-Lucent TIMOS, TCP/IP, VoIP, SIP, and Wi-Fi.
• Comprehensive knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, Static Routes, EIGRP, OSPF, etc.).
• Active participation in telecom conferences to represent C Spire and conduct partner meetings.
• Thorough understanding of the pre-sales and post-sales lifecycle for the product set.
• Lead new product development efforts and mentor solutions engineering team members.

Senior Solutions Engineer – Additional Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the telecom industry or related IT field.
