Senior Solutions Architect, EdTech, WWPS
About the role
Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing business as part of the World Wide Public Sector practice. As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS RDS, AWS Bedrock, and AWS CloudFront) directly with customers and our ecosystem of system integrators and solution providers. You will be helping our EdTech customers start, grow, and optimize their businesses on the AWS Cloud, solving problems such as scale, or adapting existing solutions for new ways of learning, including helping customers leverage AI to personalize education at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects
- Proactively identifying and driving resolution of technical escalations before they become blockers
- Defining implementation architectures and responding to RFPs
- Developing a deep expertise in the AWS technologies, particularly AI/ML and Generative AI services, as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform
- Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services
- Providing exceptional technical design and thought leadership to our customers while working with a world class sales and business development team
- Leading efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solution architect community
- Growing across three key dimensions: Customer Advisory (deepening your craft as a trusted technical advisor), Thought Leadership (building external visibility through blogs, talks, and publications), and Advancing the Organization (contributing mentorship, reusable assets, and internal impact that raises the bar for all)
Basic qualifications
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
Preferred qualifications
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Experience with AI/ML or Generative AI services (e.g., Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Q)
- Experience working with Education or EdTech customers in K-12 or Higher Education
- Experience with security and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, SOC2, or FERPA
- Experience working with end user or developer communities
- Experience with data and analytics architectures including data lakes, streaming, and business intelligence solutions
Skills and experience we're looking for
- Technical presentation experience, white board, small and large group presentations
- Technical, Web Services development/deployment experience, cloud computing, AI/ML or Generative AI experience preferred
- Operational, Web site/services operations, management, and security
- Ability to travel 25-30%
- Helping our customers to design and create cloud computing architectures
- Helping customers adopt AI/ML and Generative AI to transform their products and operations
- Deep-dive technical discussions around design and an intellectual curiosity to always keep your technical skills current while maintaining a pulse on industry trends
- Being proactive, anticipating customer needs and potential escalations rather than waiting for fires

Pay
- USA, MA, Boston: 153,600.00 - 207,800.00 USD annually
- USA, NY, New York: 169,000.00 - 228,600.00 USD annually
- USA, VA, Arlington: 153,600.00 - 207,800.00 USD annually
Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
