Role: Senior Solutions Architect - Cloud Infrastructure Location: Washington - DC (Remote) Job Type: Contract Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Solutions Architect - Cloud Infrastructure with proven experience leading enterprise on-premises to cloud transformations and designing large-scale Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environment. The ideal candidate will have strong architectural expertise across both AWS and Microsoft Azure, with the ability to develop secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure solutions. This role focuses on cloud architecture leadership, technical strategy, and enterprise transformation. The successful candidate must be able to whiteboard complex solutions, communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders, and influence architectural decisions across cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Lead cloud infrastructure architecture and strategy for enterprise on-premises to cloud transformations. Design and establish enterprise IaaS architectures across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and hybrid environments. Define architecture standards and reusable patterns for cloud networking, compute, storage, IAM, security, and infrastructure automation. Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated provisioning, high availability, disaster recovery, and cloud resiliency. Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, engineering, and platform teams to develop secure and compliant cloud solutions. Whiteboard architecture designs, evaluate technical trade-offs, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership and engineering teams. Provide technical direction, review implementation designs, and influence teams to ensure alignment with enterprise cloud strategy. Required Qualifications Extensive experience leading or designing enterprise on-premises to cloud infrastructure transformations. Strong architectural experience with both AWS and Microsoft Azure. Proven expertise in enterprise IaaS architecture, cloud networking, compute, storage, IAM, security, and hybrid cloud environments. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, monitoring, high availability, and disaster recovery. Strong understanding of cloud governance, security controls, and compliance requirements. Hands-on technical background with a focus on architecture leadership rather than day-to-day cloud administration. Excellent communication, whiteboarding, presentation, and stakeholder-influencing skills. Ability to explain complex architecture decisions, defend technical recommendations, and build consensus across teams without direct authority. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading cloud transformation initiatives within large enterprise environments. Experience establishing enterprise cloud architecture standards, roadmaps, and reusable infrastructure patterns.
