Senior Solar Energy Engineer - Energy Solutions
About the role
The Energy Solutions division of CMTA is the fastest growing division of our large and growing company. This position will work with a team of engineers to design, bid, project manage, and commission solar PV, battery and EV charging systems for various clients of CMTA.
Responsibilities
- Work with a team of engineers to design, bid, project manage, and commission solar PV, battery and EV charging systems for various clients of CMTA.
- Help clients by providing technical expertise in solar PV, battery, and EV charging system installations.
- Ensure compliance with NEC electrical code, utility tariffs, and interconnection standards.
- Model PV production using tools like SAM, PV Syst, and Helioscope.
- Develop and review single line diagrams for PV systems, including calculations for voltage drop, conduit fill, transformer sizing, and short circuit current calculations.
- Manage project timelines and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their energy needs and provide tailored solutions.
Requirements
- 5-10+ years of experience in PV & Battery installations (small commercial and large commercial (50-2MW+)NABCEP PV Installation, Designer, Commissioning or Inspector Certification (preferred, but not required)
- Thorough knowledge of the NEC electrical code, especially section 690.
- Experience with PV Interconnection documents and ability to understand and sift through utility tariffs.
- Experience with behind the meter and ahead of the meter interconnections.
- Experience with modeling PV production (SAM, PV Syst, Helioscope etc.).
- Vast knowledge base of PV racking types from pitched roof to flat roofs, carports to ground mounts (Unirac, PanelClaw, Terrasmart, Iron Ridge etc.).
Skills
- Experience with Revit/AutoCAD.
- Ability to develop, read, and discuss single line diagrams for PV systems.
- Knowledge of grid tied PV systems & associated components.
- Knowledge of 3-Phase Power Systems & microgrids.
- Familiarity with SMA, SolarEdge, Fronius & Other inverter products/design software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

Pay ranges are indicated, and the exact pay will be determined based on relevant job-related factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as geographic and market considerations.
Schedule
