About the role

Medtronic Coronary & Renal Denervation (OHS) Operating Unit develops the next generation medical technologies that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life for millions of patients across the world. The Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business is looking for a Principal Software Test Engineer to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of energy-based therapeutic medical devices to treat hypertension.

In this role, you will leverage both your technical breadth and business acumen to lead the newly approved therapy medical device software test team and participate in the design and development of next-generation medical devices. This position is based in Mounds View, MN, within the Coronary & Renal Denervation (OHS) Operating Unit.

This role requires working on-site 4 days per week and less than 10% travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the scrum team, own features from manual and automated testing perspectives.
  • Coordinate with Test Lead and other developers to identify the scope of testing and provide estimates.
  • Define, plan, organize, and coordinate testing activities for owned features and areas to ensure high-quality features are delivered following IEC 62304/82304.
  • Raise defects in case of failing test scenarios and provide adequate information for debugging and resolving reported issues.
  • Automate qualifying test cases using an in-house developed framework built on Robot Framework and Python.
  • Work with other team members and contribute towards major milestone delivery like Regression Cycles, Alpha, and End-Game testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline and a minimum of 4 years of Software Development experience OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of Software Development experience.
  • Previous experience as a Software Test Engineer, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Experience with agile software development teams.
  • Hands-on experience in software testing, automation, regression testing, and maintenance for software products.
  • Hands-on experience in Python and/or Robot Framework.
  • Experience in creating software test plans, test cases, test reports, and bug reporting.
  • Experience with Linux operating system and/or QT.

Skills

  • Agile SAFe training/experience (nice to have).
  • Cogent, concise written communication (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with Agile testing quadrants (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks such as Squish (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with gRPC protocol (nice to have).
  • Understanding of ALM tools (e.g., JIRA, CodeBeamer, Azure DevOps) (nice to have).
  • Understanding of modern DevOps tools like Bitbucket, GitLab, Jenkins (nice to have).

Pay

Salary ranges for U.S. locations (excluding Puerto Rico) are $103,200.00 - $154,800.00 USD.
