Senior Software Systems Engineer

Location: San Diego, California | Job type: Contract | Work hours: 8am to 5pm

About the role

This position requires an individual who must work with minimal supervision to support change and configuration activities of products from inception through end-of-life. The primary focus is the support and iteration of Camstar Manufacturing Execution System (MES) models, leveraging deep system functionality to meet business needs. This person will join a dynamic, fast-paced project supporting new product development teams and is responsible for compiling relevant information related to product and process definition, analyzing business and compliance requirements, assessing risks for impact, and procuring accurate information for use in global systems.

Responsibilities

• Understand manufacturing processes and requirements, converting them into functional Camstar MES models.
• Engage Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure appropriate implementation strategies and validation activities are completed.
• Take initiative to develop and implement new processes to strengthen data accuracy and enhance efficiency.
• Support and iterate models in MES to develop and optimize manufacturing process flows.
• Work independently with minimal guidance to perform required tasks.
• Collaborate with peers and project members to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Demonstrate an effective communication style when working across all organizational levels, multiple departments, and global sites.
• Perform additional related tasks as business conditions and reasonable accommodations require.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in system engineering, manufacturing systems, or related roles.
• Direct, hands-on experience creating, supporting, and developing models and business rules in Camstar MES.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL query development and optimization.
• Proven ability to convert process flows into automated workflow models.
• Technical background in manufacturing, preferably in a life sciences, diagnostic, and/or medical device environment.
• Experience in configuration management, operations, and/or quality within a regulated industry.
• Experience with process and material change/configuration activities within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP preferred).
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience (SAP PLM preferred).
• Familiarity with ISA-95 standards and a strong understanding of the boundaries between enterprise and control systems.
• High degree of initiative, ownership, and a history of delivering results across multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, paired with the ability to work independently.

Pay

$58 - 64 per hour
