About the Role

Join Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions for aerospace and defense, as the Senior Software Engineering Manager. You’ll lead a new Cryptographic software team developing mission-critical capabilities for next-generation U.S. military crypto products. This role involves cutting-edge work in cryptographic software, including quantum-resistant encryption, alongside top engineers in software, hardware, FPGA, and systems design. You’ll guide a high-performing team responsible for secure embedded software reviewed and validated by the NSA, with a critical voice from pursuit through development, release, and sustainment.

This position is sign-on bonus eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, including hiring, staffing allocation, and fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
  • Mentor engineers from entry-level to seasoned professionals, supporting their professional development and career aspirations.
  • Collaborate across functions with engineers, leadership, program managers, and shared service organizations to integrate embedded cryptographic solutions.
  • Champion product line strategy and software development best practices throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Actively participate in pursuit and bidding activities, contributing technical expertise and strategic insights to proposals.
  • Optimize staffing and program management using earned value management techniques to monitor performance and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with Collins’ standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience leading engineering teams, including mentoring, task delegation, and cross-functional collaboration in a technical development environment.
  • Experience in program execution, including bidding, project planning, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk/opportunity management.
  • Experience with embedded software development.
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government security clearance (required prior to start date).
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 7 years of experience.

  • Experience with Agile development concepts.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $145,600 – $276,800 USD. The range reflects all experience levels and considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, depending on position level and collective-bargaining agreements.
