Senior Software Engineer, Underwriting

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services for underwriting
• Implement systems integrating statistical and machine learning models for risk assessment
• Create alerts and dashboards to ensure operational stability
• Write clean, tested code for frequent releases
• Lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Contribute to architectural discussions for scaling the platform
• Automate and improve workflows for underwriting and decisioning

Qualifications

• Strong experience with backend APIs and services in Python and/or Go
• Hands-on experience with REST and additional transport formats like gRPC or GraphQL
• Practical experience deploying services in AWS or similar cloud environments
• Familiarity with observability and error-tracking tools such as Sentry and Datadog
• Agile software team experience and knowledge of collaborative development tools
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
