About the role
The Senior Software Engineer in Site Reliability Engineering at Google focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of Google's public services. This role involves engaging in the entire lifecycle of services, from design to deployment and operation. The team is responsible for maintaining system health and scaling systems sustainably through automation. Candidates will work with both systems and software, leveraging their expertise to drive improvements across massive scale systems.
Responsibilities
- Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design through to deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Support services before they go live through system design consulting, developing software platforms, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and push for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
- Practice sustainable incident response and conduct blameless postmortems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
- 2 years of experience leading projects and providing technical leadership.
Pay
$174,000 - $252,000 per year
