Senior Software Engineer (Python / Agentic AI)

About the role

This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity based in Pleasanton, California with a leading enterprise SaaS organization focused on modernizing financial and accounting operations through cloud-based platforms. The role centers on Python, agentic AI, and scalable backend systems, giving you the opportunity to work on high-impact distributed architectures and AI-driven product innovation.

Responsibilities

• 40% Backend Development (Python, APIs, distributed systems)
• 25% Cloud and Infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP, containers, databases)
• 20% AI / Agentic System Development
• 15% Performance Optimization and System Reliability

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience (or 3+ years with a Master’s degree)
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, C#, or .NET
• Experience building web applications and SaaS platforms
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and distributed systems
• Advanced SQL knowledge including data modeling, transactions, and querying
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
• Exposure to AI-first or agentic AI development approaches
• Strong focus on code quality, testing, and maintainability

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS
• Understanding of API gateways, authentication, and identity management
• Experience designing and scaling high-performance systems
• Exposure to open-source tools and frameworks
• Background working in financial systems or similar domains
