About the role

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a team responsible for designing, developing, and testing industry-leading avionics products. As a key member of the Onboard Maintenance System (OMS) team, you will develop and integrate software for an aircraft diagnostic system that is part of Collins Aerospace’s state-of-the-art flight deck solution. The OMS is a continuously evolving product using diverse technologies, offering growth and learning opportunities in an exciting field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality software solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Participate in all phases of development: scope planning, architecture and design, system and software requirements, implementation and unit testing, integration and verification, and certification.
  • Master the technical aspects of the Onboard Maintenance System, including system software, configuration, tools, and processes.
  • Build, deliver, and integrate OMS software and configuration on test fixtures and rigs for various aircraft types; perform analyses such as footprint testing.
  • Support project execution throughout the development life cycle (planning, development, and certification).
  • Coordinate and communicate with team members, technical project managers, systems engineers, and product managers.
  • Understand certification aspects of the Onboard Maintenance System to ensure successful product certification.
  • Follow and improve development processes; continuously learn and seek enhancements.

Requirements

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Experience in software development with C and SQL programming languages.
  • Experience with networking technologies (e.g., Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wireshark).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with other programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, LUA, HTML5, JavaScript).
  • Ability to learn new programming languages and technologies quickly.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to work well in a team.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
