About the role

The Athlete Mobile team at DICK’S Sporting Goods is responsible for maintaining and delivering new app features for our two customer-facing branded apps – Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will:

Responsibilities

  • Drive development of existing software and contribute to development of new software by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
  • Develop software that is fast, secure and reliable to meet defined requirements.
  • Maintain software that is fully functioning by monitoring, identifying, and correcting more complex software defects.
  • Design and conceptualize multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.
  • Recommend technical developments to optimize solutions to better meet user and/or business, performance, quality needs.
  • Drive maintenance road map to facilitate software development and ensure the development work is prioritized in line with business requirements.
  • Diagnose and correct faults to limit and address issues promptly.
  • Assign short-term work schedules to a team based on storyboarding/backlog in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.
  • Ongoing learning and development by developing own and more junior team member capabilities through participation in assessment and development planning activities, formal and informal training, and coaching; gaining or maintaining external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Support work within an established program management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Contribute to the collection of functional requirements using document analysis and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level preferred
  • Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised (13 months to 3 years)
  • Basic experience of coordinating the work of others (4 to 6 months)
