Senior Software Engineer, Kotlin | MDM

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the fast-growing Mobile Device Management Team at NinjaOne, you will contribute to the Unified IT Professionals Operations product suite by designing and implementing scalable new solutions and product improvements. You'll develop high-quality software applications that exceed customer expectations, working with industry leaders like Apple and Google to shape and execute enterprise mobility strategy for iOS, Android, Chrome OS, and Windows devices.

NinjaOne's stack includes Java, Kotlin, Golang, C++, and Postgres, supporting millions of user endpoints as a scalable cloud service across microservices on AWS. Experience with large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design, and client-server architecture will be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of large-scale software applications across backend services using Kotlin and Java.
• Make quality an invariant part of your work and help maintain quality-first standards.
• Commit code and ship products, utilizing AI to deliver solutions and implementing design patterns for enterprise-level software challenges.
• Work on bleeding-edge multi-agent systems with AI-powered tools to remove boilerplate and focus on innovation.
• Other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience in Kotlin or Java software development for product applications.
• 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Working knowledge of OOP design principles.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using frameworks like Spring Boot.
• Expert knowledge of relational database design and development.
• Experience creating both client and server-side development for responsive messaging.
• Experience with RabbitMQ; familiarity with Kafka is a plus.
• Hands-on experience developing microservices, deploying on ECS, and running them in AWS.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and tooling is valued.
• Caching systems expertise and experience with Redis is preferred.
• Solid expertise in Kotlin will make you a standout candidate.

Location

We are flexible with remote work from home if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Hybrid options are available with physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL.

This position is NOT eligible for Visa sponsorship. Due to operational policies, NinjaOne is unable to hire for this role within the city limits of Chicago. We will consider all qualified candidates who reside outside of the city proper or are willing to self-relocate.

Pay

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including location, market demands, experience, job-related knowledge, and skills.

For roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, or Washington, the base salary hiring range is $140,000 - $220,000 per year. For roles based in New York, the base salary hiring range is $140,000 - $220,000 per year.
