About the Role

Join our Gordian Knot team to help unleash the potential of every business by keeping commerce moving. You’ll contribute to a complex monolithic application powering payment processing and value-added services for merchants while modernizing our platforms through scalable microservices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software for scalability, reliability, and data recovery associated with a high-volume, high-availability platform.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Platform, Merchant Services, and Support) to convert business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Use Agile software techniques such as pair programming and test-driven development to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Deploy new features into production with zero platform downtime and no impact to end customers currently processing payments.
  • Build domain expertise in e-commerce payments and apply engineering expertise to develop new product features.
  • Work in a "team-focused" culture where strong collaboration and communication are critical.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or other related discipline (or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience).
  • 7+ years of relevant job experience in Java Software Engineering, excluding internships.
  • Exceptional design, SQL, and Java programming skills.
  • Ability to quickly grasp high-level business goals, derive requirements, and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Ability to fluidly change context and priorities based on evolving business needs.
  • Proficiency with SQL, relational data modeling, and database schema design.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Microservices architecture, globally distributed services, and 24/7 support.
  • Experience with RESTful API design and cloud technologies like Kubernetes and Kafka.
  • Design and implementation of monitoring and self-healing resilient immutable platforms.
  • Knowledge of scalability levers in high-volume, low-latency transactional systems.
  • Experience working in AWS or OpenShift Platform.
  • Experience with Ansible, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Harness, Snyk, SonarQ, Cucumber, or Karate.
  • Experience with Splunk, Sysdig, OpsGenie, OpenTelemetry, Instaclustr, Prometheus, JBehave, JGiven, Xmatters, or ServiceNow.
  • Development experience with a unit testing framework (JUnit preferred) and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Pair programming experience.

Pay

The good faith estimated annual salary range for this full-time position is $119,000.00–$179,750.00. The actual starting salary will be determined by a candidate’s experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Changes in work location may impact the final offered salary.
