Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure
About the role
As an AI-first company and Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure at Artemis, you'll own the backbone of a platform that processes exabytes of security telemetry in real time. You'll design and operate the systems that keep our ingestion pipelines, data stores, and AI workloads running reliably at scale — and you'll do it in an environment where the infrastructure decisions you make have a direct impact on how fast security teams can detect and respond to threats. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You'll work closely with software engineers, AI/ML researchers, and security engineers to architect cloud infrastructure that is fast, resilient, cost-effective, and secure by design.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate cloud infrastructure at scale — Build and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant systems on AWS (and multi-cloud where relevant) that support petabyte-scale data ingestion, storage, and processing.
- Own the data pipeline infrastructure — Manage and evolve the streaming and batch infrastructure (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or similar) that powers real-time detection and analytics.
- Lead infrastructure-as-code practices — Drive adoption and quality of IaC (Terraform, Pulumi) across the platform, from network topology to compute and storage layers.
- Harden production reliability — Define and own SLOs, build observability stacks (metrics, logs, traces), and lead incident response, blameless postmortems, and on-call rotations.
- Drive security-first infrastructure — Implement zero-trust networking, secrets management, IAM best practices, and compliance controls befitting a cybersecurity company.
- Partner with AI/ML and data teams — Support GPU workloads, model training pipelines, and large-scale data warehouses (Snowflake, ClickHouse, BigQuery) as first-class infrastructure citizens.
- Scale with the team — Mentor engineers, contribute to technical roadmaps, and help define how infrastructure is built at Artemis as we grow rapidly.
- Maintain a delivery-focused approach, ensuring efficient and timely deployment of high-impact features and infrastructure improvements.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of infrastructure or DevOps/platform engineering experience in production cloud environments at meaningful scale.
- Deep expertise in AWS — GCP or Azure experience is a plus.
- Extreme ownership mindset — you take personal responsibility for the success of the platform and the outcomes of your technical decisions.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform or Pulumi; experience managing large, multi-environment configurations.
- Hands-on experience with streaming data infrastructure — Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or equivalent at high throughput.
- Solid Linux systems knowledge — networking (DNS, load balancing, firewalls), storage, performance tuning, and debugging production issues.
- Experience building and operating observability platforms — Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar.
- Security-minded approach — comfortable implementing IAM policies, secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager), and network security controls.
Pay
We offer a competitive compensation of $180,000 - $250,000 per year, and a top-of-market equity component. A variety of factors are considered when determining the compensation, including a candidate’s professional experience.
