Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to support a global technology company for a contract remote role local to Raleigh Triangle Park.
About the role
The Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) will lead the quality strategy, test automation, and validation efforts for a platform that provides real-time visibility into Common Criteria (CC) certification programs and projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement the overall test strategy for a Common Criteria program management platform.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for web applications, APIs, backend services, and data pipelines.
- Build automated regression, integration, functional, and end-to-end test suites.
- Validate integrations with external systems including Jira, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Confluence, GitHub, and other project management tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Created a test automation framework from scratch.
- Able to be the sole SDET and lead.
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) roles.
- Strong programming experience with Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or C#.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
- Strong background in REST API testing, service validation, and backend testing methodologies.
- Experience testing enterprise web applications, distributed systems, and cloud-based solutions.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated quality assurance processes.
- Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Postman, or comparable testing tools.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with Common Criteria, cybersecurity compliance programs, regulated environments, or audit-driven organizations preferred.
- Experience validating complex dashboards, workflow management systems, and business intelligence platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of security testing, vulnerability validation, and application security principles preferred.
Pay
Salary range: $115k - $130k
