About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer II at Confluent, you will lead the design and delivery of critical backend systems for the Stream Governance products that support our data streaming platform. This role involves collaborating closely with team members and stakeholders to develop cloud-native, multi-tenant services that ensure data quality and integrity. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to a high-performing engineering team, tackling complex distributed data challenges. Your contributions will be essential in driving the overall roadmap for delivering a top-notch Data Streaming Platform.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry experience designing, building, scaling, and operating backend systems in production.
• Deep proficiency in at least one major backend programming language such as Java, Go, C/C++, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, including event-driven architectures and large-scale data pipelines.
• Strong experience running production services in a public cloud environment like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and architect the cloud-native Stream Governance platform as a multi-tenant, highly available service.
• Own and lead the end-to-end design and implementation of complex backend services.
• Drive projects from requirements and design through implementation and ongoing operation in production.
• Make architecture and technical decisions that balance reliability, scalability, performance, and operability.
• Evaluate and enhance the efficiency of the platform's technology stack to keep pace with industry trends.
