Senior Software Engineer I
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the CoCounsel Applications team, you will play a hands-on role in building and evolving our external integration strategy leveraging MCP and A2A. You'll design and deliver full-stack features across our frontend and backend systems, write high-quality code every day, and work closely with product, design, and platform partners to ship high-impact, customer-facing features.
- Build End-to-End Solutions: Design and implement full-stack features across frontend and backend systems, including hands-on development in our React, TypeScript, and Python stacks — and direct contribution to AI-powered capabilities such as agentic workflows, LLM integrations, and MCP/A2A-based tooling.
- Deliver Quality Software: Apply best practices for code quality, performance, accessibility, testing, and maintainability in your own work, and contribute to raising the bar through thoughtful code reviews.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with product, design, and backend teams to clarify requirements, help define APIs, and deliver cohesive user experiences.
- Own Your Workstreams: Break down features into well-scoped tasks, provide reliable estimates, and take your work from development through production with minimal oversight.
- Share Knowledge: Contribute to a strong engineering culture through pairing, code reviews, and open technical discussion with your teammates.
Requirements
You're a fit for the role of Senior Software Engineer if your background includes:
- Technical Experience: 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production web applications used by real customers.
- Frontend Expertise: Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, along with a solid understanding of TypeScript and frontend fundamentals.
- Backend & AI Skills: Experience building APIs and services with Python as a core language, and working familiarity with GenAI concepts including prompt engineering, agentic system design, or LLM orchestration frameworks; exposure to MCP/A2A is a plus.
- Ownership: Track record of taking features from design through production, improving the systems you work in, and making sound technical decisions within your scope.
- Collaboration & Communication: Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA or BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with performance optimization for web applications, including monitoring, profiling, and tuning for scale.
- Hands-on experience building AI-powered product features, including working with LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows in a production environment.
- Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure including vector databases, model serving, and cost/latency optimization for LLM-powered features.
