Senior Software Engineer - FX Trading

About the role

LSEG is seeking a motivated, hands-on mid-level Java engineer to join the FX Trading and related services team. The ideal candidate will have experience with low-latency systems and a passion for AI and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Closely work with architects and other team members to develop and build complex applications.
• Design, develop, and support trading venues and related services.
• Ongoing support and development of cloud services, including building cloud-aware applications.
• Develop and maintain automated processes to help prevent, identify, and resolve issues impacting service availability.
• Identify and contribute to improvements across various areas such as cost savings, security, ease of use, and reliability.
• Actively learn and adopt new technologies, tools, and practices, including AI-assisted development techniques.
• Deliver on commitments and work effectively within a team.
• Participate in modern agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Manage multiple priorities while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Show strong problem-solving skills and investigate technical issues across multiple technologies.

Requirements

• Strong Java programming skills with experience writing clean, maintainable code.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Working knowledge of concurrency and performance optimization.
• Good understanding of system architecture fundamentals and memory management.
• Familiarity with profiling and performance analysis tools.
• Exposure to libraries and frameworks used in low-latency or high-performance applications.
• Knowledge of network protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP) and an understanding of network performance considerations.
• Ability to use and direct AI agents to help generate, optimize, and review code.
• Proven ability to deliver on commitments and work effectively in a globally distributed team.
• Knowledge and experience with modern agile development methodologies.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, including automation of software testing, delivery, and infrastructure changes.
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a globally distributed team, managing multiple priorities while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate technical issues across multiple technologies with guidance from senior engineers.

Desired Skills

• Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Demonstrated interest or hands-on experimentation with AI, machine learning, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Strong passion for technology and a willingness to continuously learn new skills.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

Career Stage

This role is open to all career stages, but the anticipated base salary range is $129,700 - $216,100, with eligibility for the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/”bonus plan”).
