Senior Software Engineer FS - Backend focused

The Federal Civilian business unit supports customers spanning federal, commercial, and nonprofit sectors, including NASA, the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, Library of Congress, Health & Human Services, and the FDIC. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, modernize legacy systems, and establish data as a strategic asset.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates expertise, accountability, and ownership of contributions to an application codebase.
- Maintains a high-level understanding of adjacent technical areas and ecosystems to coordinate integration with those systems.
- Diagnoses and resolves issues with owned systems, using incidents to inform improvements.
- Actively mentors and assists junior engineers in skill development.
- Effectively communicates technical issues and developments with team members and clients.
- Participates in technical interviews with new candidates.
- Uses strong influential skills to propose and evaluate multiple approaches to technical and process problems.
- May serve as a mentor to individuals within the team or lead small, less critical, or temporary team structures and projects.
- Presents design documents, system diagrams, and other technical materials to clients, stakeholders, partners, and engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience developing systems and applications for Federal clients.
- Experience with enterprise-level, high-availability application development.
- Proficiency in object-oriented design (OOD) patterns for separation of concerns, code reusability, security, and performance.
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React.js, Angular, and Node.js.
- Ability to develop clean, well-architected code.
- Experience with cloud computing (Cloud Foundry, Azure, or AWS).
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (e.g., Jenkins).
- Proficiency in Source Control Management (preferably Git/GitHub).
- Strong database skills, preferably with Oracle or SQL Server, and experience with SQL or similar query languages and data constructs (XML, JSON).
- Experience developing/consuming Web Services (REST, SOAP, JSON), ETL jobs, and APIs (Service-oriented architectures).
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies such as functional, SOA, and performance testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior government contracting experience.

Pay
The starting range for this role is $125,000 - $145,000. Actual compensation is influenced by factors including skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
