About the Role
A federal technology consulting company is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer/Developer – AI to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 12–15+ years of software engineering experience and 8+ years of applied AI/ML experience, with a background in architecting and delivering large-scale AI systems and exposure to areas such as large language models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic AI, orchestration frameworks, MLOps, distributed training, and enterprise AI modernization.
Requirements
- 12–15+ years of software engineering experience
- 8+ years of applied AI/ML experience
- Background in architecting and delivering large-scale AI systems
- Exposure to LLMs, RAG, agentic AI, orchestration frameworks, MLOps, distributed training, and enterprise AI modernization
- U.S. citizenship required
Qualifications
- 10+ years of data science, ML, or AI experience
- Expert-level Python skills
- Machine learning, deep learning, and LLM experience
- RAG, vector databases, and generative AI tools
- MLOps and production model deployment
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Enterprise-scale AI and analytics delivery
- Statistics, experimentation, and model evaluation
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow
- Full-stack application development
- Prior work with federal environments
- AI governance
- Cloud-native architectures
- DevSecOps
- Microservices
- Managed AI platforms such as AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and Google Vertex AI
- Active Public Trust, Secret, or higher clearance
