Senior Software Engineer - Core UX Studio
About the role
As a Sr. Studio Software Engineer at Roblox, you’ll be a key contributor to the evolution of Roblox Studio, the primary IDE for creating massive multiplayer online games on the Roblox platform. You’ll work on core user features, AI-native integrations, foundational application architecture, and cross-functional projects that shape the future of human interaction in 3D immersive digital experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute the architecture and technical direction for Roblox Studio’s future.
- Own and deliver complex technical projects from planning through execution.
- Work cross-functionally across teams and technology platforms.
- Mentor team members to improve their professional skills and expertise.
- Develop and implement technological practices, patterns, and strategies.
- Build core user features, including UI frameworks, windowing systems, and code generation.
- Integrate AI features into Studio ("AI Native" features).
- Enhance foundational application architecture, including OS integration and the third-party plugin ecosystem.
- Collaborate with UX designers on visual, motion, and interactive design language for Studio.
- Build central backend systems for the world’s leading professional application for massively multiplayer game development.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing and deploying top-tier user-facing applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
- 1+ years of experience with C++.
- Experience with UI frameworks like React, Cocoa, or WPF is a plus.
Skills
- Proficiency with industry standards, best practices, testability, and design patterns.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills to track and resolve multiple threads.
Pay
For roles based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA, the starting base pay range is $196,750—$243,290 USD. The actual base pay depends on professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. Full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and benefits.
Schedule
Roles based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.
