The Safety organization’s mission is to become the leader in civil immersive online communities. We systematically detect, remove, and prevent problematic accounts, content, and behavior, and we make Roblox accounts secure and free from compromise. We cover a broad area of the tech spectrum, including machine learning, classifiers for 3D models, experimentation, automation, detection workflows, and AI-powered text filters.

Join our Bots and Spam team to tackle the critical challenge of safeguarding the platform against sophisticated bot threats. As the founding Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Frontend focus), you will bridge the gap between our advanced ML and backend solutions by building intuitive, scalable, and high-performance front-end user interactions. You will have a direct impact on platform health, ensuring fairness for creators and players by staying ahead of evolving threats in a high-stakes, data-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Shape our frontend practices with total autonomy as the first dedicated full-stack hire on the team, establishing next-generation technical and quality standards.
• Develop high-quality, user-centric, and low-friction front-end solutions, applying an adversarial and data-driven lens to proactively address security vulnerabilities.
• Translate complex backend detection intelligence into intuitive, high-value interfaces.
• Build a centralized platform to provide intuitive UX for the bot defense pod and access control options to various product teams within Roblox and the wider creator community.
• Design, build, and deploy 0-1 secure, efficient, and reliable bot defense products, focusing on the user experience for bot detection and mitigation.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Fullstack Software Engineer.
• 2+ years of experience in front-end development with hands-on experience in UI scripting languages and modern frameworks, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Lua, and React.
• 2+ years of experience in compiled backend languages such as Golang, Java, or C#.
• Equivalent experience or a BS in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or another technical field.
• A strong focus on writing clear, readable, testable, and highly monitored code.
• A customer-first mindset demonstrated through exceptional cross-team collaboration and delivery.

Pay

For roles based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA, the starting base pay range is $196,750—$243,290 USD. The actual base pay is dependent upon professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand.

Schedule

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.
