Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Lakehouse Infra)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Lakehouse Infra) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will focus on building and evolving backend infrastructure that powers highly available, scalable data systems. You will partner closely with product management, design, and analytics to deliver quarterly objectives while improving reliability, code quality, and operational excellence. The position calls for an engineer who can navigate ambiguity, shape technical direction, and make thoughtful contributions across a large and complex codebase. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $173,000 – $255,000 annually Responsibilities Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team while guiding engineers through ambiguity Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle Proactively identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, or technology issues Support operations and availability by creating metrics and managing on-call efforts Foster a culture of quality and ownership through improved code review and design standards Develop team talent by providing feedback and leading by example Qualifications 4+ years of experience in backend system design and development using Python or Kotlin Proven track record in building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes Experience with scaling technologies like Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Terraform Ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant and extensible designs Proficient in making substantial changes in large codebases with safe practices Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback-seeking Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience Benefits 100% subsidized health coverage for employees and their dependents Monthly stipends for tech setup and health and wellness options Flexible time off and generous holiday calendars Employee stock purchase plan allowing stock purchase at a discount Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
