Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain powerful services to enable Finch’s data presentation layer.
- Lead product expansion initiatives, including horizontal expansion of existing integrations and greenfield development in new verticals.
- Develop, test, and maintain integrations to meet security, scalability, and performance requirements.
- Lead large product initiatives spanning multiple teams, from problem definition to execution.
- Deploy code daily with a focus on scalability, testability, and maintainability.
- Debug issues across the stack using modern observability tools.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant backend development experience in a start-up environment.
- Track record of executing and delivering on large projects with high ambiguity.
- Detail-oriented approach to challenges and ability to drive initiatives to completion.
- Exposure to high-growth start-ups.
- Knowledge of agile best practices to release faster.
- Technical understanding of the software development process.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Experience working cross-functionally across multiple teams to deliver high-quality products.
- Experience working in a remote-friendly environment.
Skills
- Deep experience working with APIs and backend technologies.
- Strong system-design skills and experience with distributed systems.
- Experience with NodeJS, PostgreSQL, Redis.
- Professional experience using Git.
- Familiarity with API authentication and authorization methods, particularly OAuth.
- Experience using a cloud provider (AWS is a bonus).
- Experience with distributed messaging systems.
- Strong knowledge of testing best practices (TDD is a bonus).

Pay
Compensation package includes a competitive base salary of $200,000 - $220,000, benchmarked against real-time market data, plus equity for all full-time roles. Equity grants include a 10-year exercise window. Final offers may vary based on geography, candidate experience, and expertise.
Schedule
This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in our San Francisco or NYC office.
