Senior Software Engineer
About the role
Join the Calibre engineering team in the Siemens EDA IC segment as a software engineer. You will design, develop, and support the Calibre Parasitic Extraction software, which identifies electrical side effects of devices and interconnect wires in integrated circuit designs and outputs them for post-layout analysis and simulation. Responsibilities span computation engines, application software, APIs, and utilities. You will collaborate with senior engineers on production-quality components, algorithms, and existing parasitic extraction products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software components for Calibre Parasitic Extraction, including computation engines, application software, APIs, and utilities.
- Collaborate with a senior team of software engineers to ensure production-level quality of new components and algorithms.
- Support and enhance existing parasitic extraction products.
- Participate in large software development projects, including code reviews, version management, unit testing, and static/dynamic code analysis.
Requirements
- MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Scientific Computing, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Excellent C++ programming and software engineering skills.
- 2+ years of EDA software development experience, ideally in parasitic extraction.
- Experience with large software development projects (code reviews, version control, unit tests, static/dynamic code checkers).
- Practical experience in scientific software development involving numerical linear algebra and data structures/algorithms for high-volume data and computing.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability and interest in learning, exploring, and applying new technologies in software engineering, computer science, and numerical mathematics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivation, self-discipline, and the ability to set and work toward personal goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-threaded, distributed, and high-performance computing.
- IC CAD experience (DRC, LVS, extraction, simulation) and knowledge of semiconductor processes.
- Experience with UNIX and/or Linux platforms.
Benefits
- Flexible work arrangements, including remote and in-office options.
- Comprehensive benefits and rewards as a world leader in industrial software.
