Senior Software Engineer

Overview

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Policy Onboarding and Home Services team. As a vital member of this team, you will own and evolve the backend services that power the post-bind policyholder journey - from account onboarding to inspection orchestration, hazard remediation, underwriting review, and proactive home-service offers. Your work directly impacts how policyholders experience SageSure after they purchase a policy, ensuring a seamless, reliable, and modern experience. You'll contribute to architectural decisions, bringing product requirements and business context into the conversation. We operate a microservices-based SaaS platform on AWS and conduct a significant share of our business through APIs.

What you’d be doing

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to craft innovative capabilities in our API products, enabling the building blocks of new customer experiences.
• Design and implement modern Java services that connect our platform to integration partners, powering dynamic and user-friendly experiences.
• Make high-level technical and architectural decisions to ensure our solutions are secure, reliable, and scalable as we grow.
• Own features end-to-end from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Make well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs in your domain, authoring technical design documents, API documentation, and architectural proposals.
• Develop testing suites and validation strategies including integration tests, to deliver complex outcomes while maintaining high software quality.
• Mentor other engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Expand and evolve our integration strategy, connecting third-party contractor networks, service providers, and our internal underwriting systems.
