About the role

The Windows Agents, Growth and Innovation team is advancing how people interact with Windows through intelligent, context-aware experiences. Our work spans AI-powered agents, Windows platform capabilities, and new experiences designed to help customers complete tasks efficiently and confidently. This role provides an opportunity to influence the direction of emerging Windows experiences and deliver durable improvements across a large product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain clean, reliable, testable code using best practices and responsible AI-assisted development while escalating blockers early.
  • Use AI tools responsibly across the SDLC, reviewing and validating AI-generated changes to ensure correctness and maintainability.
  • Work with partner engineering teams, PMs, and experts (privacy, security, SRE) to understand requirements, apply customer feedback/telemetry, and deliver scalable, reliable, user-centric features.
  • Build extensible, maintainable services and features with strong diagnosability, reliability, and production-readiness.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot live-site issues using least-privileged access, and improve TSGs, telemetry, and fixes that reduce future incidents.
  • Contribute to engineering and operational excellence through automation, tooling, documentation, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements for this role, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience in technical engineering with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Passion for continuous learning and applying learning in ways that drive business improvements and the ability to collaborate and partner with teams outside of the organization to deliver results.

Pay

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
