Senior Software Engineer

Location: New York, NY • Hybrid in NYC

About the role

This is a highly hands-on engineering role within the Cross-Platform Delivery team. You will move across multiple enterprise platforms, identify integration gaps, and build shared backend capabilities rather than being tied to one individual application or product. Day-to-day work includes building production-grade backend services, APIs, event-driven integrations, orchestration layers, and reusable components used across multiple platforms. You will collaborate directly with platform engineering teams, Solution Architects, and Delivery Managers to understand existing systems, connect platforms, and take solutions from coding through testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Build and support production-grade backend services and microservices
• Design REST APIs, shared services, and cross-platform integrations
• Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka, Kinesis, or similar technologies
• Work with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
• Integrate relational and NoSQL databases
• Partner with engineering, architecture, and delivery teams across multiple platforms
• Own solutions through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong backend focus
• Strong hands-on development with Java, Python, or Node.js
• Microservices and REST API design/development
• Event-driven architecture with Kafka, Kinesis, or a comparable messaging platform
• AWS, GCP, or similar cloud experience
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, including retries, DLQs, eventual consistency, idempotency, tracing, and service decomposition
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
• Enterprise API and systems integration experience, including REST, OAuth, API gateways, and service-to-service integrations
• Must still be actively coding and capable of owning a backend service from design through production

Preferred Qualifications

• Financial services, banking, or payments experience
• Enterprise modernization/transformation experience
• Experience building shared services, reusable libraries, or APIs consumed by multiple teams
• AI/LLM experience related to automation or engineering tooling
