Description
The Senior Security Software Engineer II reports to the Director, Security Software Engineering in the SPEAR Automation team. This role is aimed at engineers who operate beyond the scope of a single team or service. You will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and delivering solutions to complex, often ambiguous problems that span multiple systems and teams.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building and operating distributed systems at scale, with a strong understanding of production challenges and failure modes
- A track record of delivering complex technical initiatives across multiple teams or domains, not just within a single codebase
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, with deep proficiency in at least one modern programming language and the ability to work across others
- 7+ Years Experience working across a broad, polyglot technology stack, for example: Backend and services: Node.js, .NET, Rust, PHP Frontend and web platforms: React, Angular, Next.js, TypeScript Infrastructure and platform: Kubernetes, AWS (including EKS, ECS/Fargate), CI/CD systems (e.g. GitLab CI), GitOps tooling (e.g. ArgoCD)
- Proven ability to design or evolve platform-level systems, internal developer platforms, or shared infrastructure
- Solid understanding of SRE principles, including observability, SLIs/SLOs, incident management, and system health
- Experience improving system reliability and developer productivity through automation, platform design, and intelligent tooling
- Experience designing systems and workflows that are highly automatable and extensible, with well-defined interfaces for both human and programmatic use
- Experience with modern delivery practices, including Infrastructure-as-Code and automated pipelines
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, define problems, and drive solutions without needing detailed direction
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with experience aligning engineers and stakeholders across teams
