Senior Software Engineer and System/Application Administrator
The Senior Software Engineer at Intuitive Machines - West is responsible for owning and maintaining multiple enterprise applications deployed in AWS GovCloud environment. They will support and modernize client-server applications utilizing OpenWebStart/Java Web Start technology, design, develop, and optimize software solutions using C++, Java, and Scala, manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases for enterprise-scale applications, perform Linux system administration tasks including server configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensure applications meet security and compliance requirements for government cloud environments, monitor system performance, implement automation, and maintain system security. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions, implement best practices for cloud-native application development and deployment, and troubleshoot complex technical issues across the application stack and infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
- Bachelor’s degree or four additional years of work experience may be substituted for a degree
- Minimum of 8 years of software development experience
- Experience with C++, Java, and Scala
- Familiarity with OpenWebStart, Java Web Start (JNLP), or similar deployment technologies
- Experience with network protocols and concepts, from Ethernet through HTTP
- Linux system administration experience (RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar distributions)
- Experience with shell scripting and Linux command-line tools
- Experience with PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and administration
- Background in aerospace, defense, or regulated industries
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Understanding of cloud security principles and compliance requirements

- Experience with AWS services (GovCloud experience highly preferred)

Pay & Benefits
The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $124,000.00 - $206,000.00 annually.
The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $124,000.00 - $206,000.00 annually.
The base pay for this position within Delaware is: $124,000.00 - $206,000.00 annually.
The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $137,000.00 - $228,000.00 annually.
The base pay for this position within California is: $143,000.00 - $238,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
