Senior Software Engineer - AI Experiences, Microsoft Edge

About the role

The Microsoft AI Experiences Edge browser is a core strategic product and key entry point to Microsoft’s new AI ecosystem, serving hundreds of millions of users daily. As part of the Edge Copilot and cowork engineering team, you will help deliver the sidepane Copilot experience, agentic browsing, and more in a hypercompetitive AI browser landscape.

Starting January 26, 2026, employees in this role who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated U.S. Microsoft office (or 25-mile commute for non-U.S. locations) are expected to work from the office at least four days per week, subject to local law. This U.S.-based position in Redmond, WA requires you to be local to the greater Seattle area and in-office four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Drive architecture and technical design for multi-tenant, highly available, and secure distributed systems.
• Build and integrate services across Microsoft Edge, Microsoft 365, and Azure ecosystems to deliver end-to-end customer solutions.
• Lead engineering efforts from concept through deployment, including design reviews, implementation, testing, monitoring, and live-site operations.
• Collaborate across partner teams to define technical strategy, align dependencies, and deliver cohesive customer experiences.
• Analyze reliability, scalability, performance, and security challenges, and drive long-term architectural improvements.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Leverage telemetry, customer feedback, and operational insights to continuously improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• Equivalent experience will also be considered.

Pay

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year. For the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the range is USD $160,200 – $261,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
