Senior Software Engineer ($200k-$250k) at Close
About the role
Close is a bootstrapped and profitable AI-powered CRM company that has been helping small, scaling businesses automate sales workflows since 2013. With a 120-person fully remote team, Close prioritizes customer needs over investor demands, fostering a culture of transparency and high-performance engineering without the typical venture capital pressure. This is a 100% remote position (USA only).
Responsibilities
As the first dedicated marketing engineer, you will own the technical architecture of Close.com using Astro, Sanity, and Vercel. You’ll bridge Engineering and Marketing to build a high-performance, conversion-focused website that serves as the company's primary acquisition funnel. Your work directly impacts revenue by optimizing performance, technical SEO, and measurement.
- Architect and maintain the Close.com infrastructure using Astro and Sanity to create a fast, interactive, and polished brand experience with high-fidelity animations.
- Own the technical integrity of site measurement, ensuring tracking, attribution, and conversion events flow reliably into marketing and data systems.
- Build self-service tools and guardrails that empower marketers and designers to ship campaigns and experiments independently without sacrificing site performance or SEO.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining conversion-focused websites, moving beyond simple launches to long-term technical ownership and performance optimization.
Skills
- Deep expertise in modern JS frameworks and headless CMS platforms, with mastery of CSS for creating ambitious, motion-rich user experiences.
- Strong understanding of measurement instrumentation and technical SEO, with the ability to implement and debug complex attribution and analytics events.
Benefits
- Full technical ownership: first dedicated owner of the marketing site, transitioning it from Webflow to a custom, high-performance codebase.
- Profitable and independent: work for a stable, successful business that answers to customers rather than VCs, offering rare job security and long-term thinking.
- Unrivaled flexibility: 100% remote culture including a 4-day work week option, annual international retreats, and a one‑month paid sabbatical every five years.
Pay
Salary range: $200k‑$250k.
