We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong experience in both functional testing and automation across modern applications. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can validate end-to-end system behavior and user workflows while building scalable automation to improve quality and release confidence. You will work closely with engineering, product, and AI/ML teams to ensure reliability, performance, and usability across our healthcare platform. Ellipsis Health is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we are open to remote candidates within the United States. Key Responsibilities Perform both manual testing and automation across system workflows and application featuresDesign, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for end-to-end system behaviorBuild and maintain automation frameworks to improve test coverage and efficiencyValidate system interactions, workflows, and integrations to ensure reliability and consistencyPerform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and gaps in system behaviorIdentify, document, and track defects; collaborate closely with engineering teams for resolutionParticipate in Agile ceremonies, providing QA input during sprint planning and retrospectivesSupport release validation, regression testing, and post-deployment verificationIntegrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality validationDefine and track quality metrics and test coverageContribute to improving overall testing strategy, frameworks, and quality processes Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in an SDET role with a strong mix of functional testing and automationExperience validating end-to-end system workflows and user journeysHands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworksExperience with automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or similarProficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python for test automation and scriptingStrong understanding of test design techniques, QA methodologies, and defect trackingExperience working with complex or distributed systemsExperience working in Agile/Scrum environmentsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent communication and collaboration skills Nice to Have Experience testing conversational voice AI agents or real-time communication systemsExposure to monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog, Splunk, or similarBasic understanding of authentication/authorization (RBAC, OAuth, etc.)Experience in healthcare or other regulated environmentsFamiliarity with testing considerations for LLMs and GenAI systems Salary And Benefits We offer a competitive salary of $140-$160k and benefits, including a 401k that matches up to 4% of your salary, health, vision, and dental insurance, and very flexible paid time off.
