Senior Software Development Engineer
About the role
Under general direction, you will formulate and define system scope and objectives. You will devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. This role involves designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting those procedures. You will be competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities and regularly provide guidance and training to less-experienced programmer/analysts.
Responsibilities
- Independently design and/or code, and may lead others in the development of cost-effective application and program solutions.
- Lead or act as chief technical contributor to the translation of business requirements into technical specifications.
- Lead or act as a technical contributor in the design of new applications or enhancements, including the integration of purchased solutions.
- Independently perform and assist team members in providing ongoing system maintenance, research, problem resolution, and on-call support tasks for existing systems.
- Ensure compliance with prescribed methodologies for efficient utilization and oversee compliance for aligned resources.
- Oversee or perform unit testing, and may assist with integration and system testing according to detailed test plans to ensure high-quality systems.
- Assist business partners with User Acceptance Testing.
- Support the implementation of systems into production, including the integration of purchased solutions, with limited direction.
- Responsible for Code Asset Management for an application or set of applications, promoting the reuse of assets across the organization.
- May lead or act as a subject matter expert for projects and/or service requests impacting an application or set of applications.
- Support and lead others in developing Datastage code utilizing onshore and offshore teams.
- Serve as team leader to direct technical activities and provide support for small and large highly complex projects with system-wide impact.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in application program development.
- 5+ years in strong Datastage development.
- 5+ years of experience working with business and functional requirements that apply to applications supporting a sub-domain or domain, as well as their relevant interfaces.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MQs.
- Experience with Java / J2EE.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
Pay
The typical pay range for this role is $92,700.00 - $185,400.00. This range represents the base annual full-time salary. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range.
