Senior Software Development Engineer, Amazon Customer Service

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to play a key role in designing and building the next generation of self-service tools that will scale to serve our customers globally. You will own complex, ambiguous problems end-to-end: from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, and operational excellence. You will mentor engineers, influence technical direction across partner teams, and build systems that operate at massive scale with high availability.

About the role

As a Senior SDE on this team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, testing, and implementation of complex problems, including planning, risk assessment, and trade-offs. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and product owners to define and deliver complex features while guiding and ensuring the quality of architectural decisions across products and teams. Your role will include helping establish long-term success strategies for team-owned systems, development best practices, and operational excellence processes. You will also ensure existing platforms and services remain fully supported while contributing to the creation of next-generation solutions. Additionally, you will provide technical direction and mentor junior team members.

About the team

Customer Service Technologies, part of Amazon Customer Service (CS), builds the platforms and products that power Amazon's world-class customer service experiences. The CS Aria team builds intelligent resolution systems that help customers self-resolve issues quickly and seamlessly, using a combination of LLM-powered and workflow-based resolvers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Pay

• USA, CA, Santa Clara: $193,300.00 - $261,500.00 USD annually
• USA, WA, Seattle: $168,100.00 - $227,400.00 USD annually

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
