Senior Software Developer – Scrum Master - 176627

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Developer – Scrum Master to support the development and modernization of mission-critical, cloud-native software systems in Gaithersburg, MD. The Senior Software Developer – Scrum Master will split responsibilities between hands-on Java software development and Scrum Master leadership, supporting Agile teams delivering real-time, safety-critical applications. This position involves developing microservices, implementing modern DevSecOps practices, and facilitating Agile delivery within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. This position is hybrid, requiring three days onsite per week, and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance! Responsibilities of the Senior Software Developer – Scrum Master: Spend approximately 50% of time designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining production-quality Java applications and cloud-native microservicesSpend approximately 50% of time serving as Scrum Master, facilitating Agile ceremonies, removing impediments, and driving continuous improvementDevelop scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring SecurityLead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectivesSupport SAFe activities including Program Increment (PI) Planning, system demonstrations, and inspect-and-adapt workshopsTrack team velocity, flow metrics, sprint commitments, and PI objectives to improve delivery predictabilityCollaborate with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, software architects, and engineering teams to manage priorities, dependencies, and technical deliverablesDevelop and maintain automated unit tests using JUnit, Mockito, and related testing frameworksIntegrate modern frontend technologies including React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSSSupport software architecture, technical design reviews, peer code reviews, and application performance optimizationUtilize Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices to support secure and efficient software deliveryLeverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, refactoring, and automated testingSupport integration between modern cloud-native applications and legacy enterprise systemsTroubleshoot application issues across development, testing, and production environmentsIdentify and resolve cross-team dependencies, technical blockers, and delivery risksMentor junior developers and promote Agile best practices, software engineering standards, and team collaboration Qualifications for the Senior Software Developer – Scrum Master: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience;
