Senior Software Developer, Platform Engineering

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Platform Engineering organization, you'll shape how Redfin's frontend engineers build, test, and ship software. This team owns the frontend platform infrastructure that powers ~30 React applications—including build tooling, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and developer experience integrations. You'll multiply the productivity of the entire frontend engineering organization by driving improvements to core infrastructure and integrating generative AI to eliminate toil and automate repetitive tasks.

• Drive significant improvements to and ensure the reliability of core frontend infrastructure: build tooling, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and build generative AI tooling to accelerate frontend code creation, testing, and deployment.
• Support engineering productivity by reducing toil, eliminating friction, and establishing scalable best practices across multiple frontend teams.
• Research and champion forward-thinking solutions for frontend developer experience, leveraging or introducing new technologies as needed.
• Support the implementation roadmap for core platform infrastructure, working with stakeholders to resolve technical debt and propose scalable solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in frontend or full-stack development, specializing in developer tooling, platform engineering, or infrastructure, with deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Familiarity with leveraging and optimizing testing frameworks (Jest, Vitest, Playwright, visual regression testing) and building/maintaining scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar.
• Experience integrating Rust-based tools into existing JS frameworks.
• Experience implementing team-wide AI tools to speed up development, debug processes, and improve scalability for frontend development.
• Familiarity with containerized workflows (Docker), observability/monitoring tools (Datadog or similar), and AI code generation tools (e.g., Claude Code).
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, drive technical consensus across teams, and manage priorities within large, complex codebases.

Pay

The compensation for this position is $166,900.00–$203,900.00, with eligibility for an annual bonus, incentives, and other benefits.

Schedule

This role may include participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems and ensure service reliability, which may involve coverage during nights and weekends. Frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs.
