About the role
The Senior Software Developer will play a key role in developing systems that work within NASA’s Earthdata Cloud software ecosystem, specifically for the open-source OPeNDAP data server and related projects.Responsibilities
- Design and implement new features for the OPeNDAP data server and related projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, engineers, and other developers to ensure high-quality software solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous integration and deployment of software components.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve the quality of the codebase.
- Work closely with the community to contribute to open-source projects and maintain the OPeNDAP project.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of professional software development experience.
- Experience with Python, C++, and/or Java.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, testing, and debugging.
- Experience with cloud computing and distributed systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with open-source software development.
- Knowledge of scientific data formats and standards.
- Experience with scientific computing libraries and tools.
Skills
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and/or Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools.
- Experience with scientific data formats and standards.
