About the role
The person in this role will work from the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota. As a Senior Software DevOps Engineer, you will be a hands-on individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and operating secure, scalable public cloud platform services that enable enterprise-wide global software delivery.
Responsibilities
- Supports development and execution of the organization's cloud strategy from a technical perspective, including design, planning, integration, maintenance, and support of cloud architecture.
- Works with stakeholders across the organization to evaluate cloud systems and identify appropriate solutions.
- Responsible for complete end-to-end project management for the assigned project(s) which includes project planning, delivery, client interaction, trouble shooting and implementation support.
- Drives the application of principles, theories and concepts based on the Cloud Stack and determines the best course of action.
- Affords opportunities for application and process improvement and prepares documentation to share with team members and other affected parties.
- Requires sound technical knowledge combined with reasonable understanding of business issues.
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud platform services, infrastructure-as-code, and automation frameworks for enterprise-scale public cloud environments.
- Build and maintain reusable software components, CI/CD pipelines, and code libraries enabling secure and consistent deployments.
- Implement secure-by-design guardrails including identity and access management, encryption, logging, observability, resiliency, and compliance.
- Evaluate and integrate new cloud services, translating business and security requirements into scalable software solutions.
- Develop and maintain operational tooling, monitoring, runbooks, and AI-enabled operations to support global reliability.
- Act as an escalation point for complex cloud incidents, outages, and security events.
- Collaborate across application, security, and infrastructure teams to modernize platforms and improve delivery efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership through communities of practice, technical forums, and mentorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience with an advanced degree
Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
- Strong software engineering background with experience in JSON, Python, and API-driven development.
- Hands-on experience with AWS public cloud platforms and services.
- Expertise in infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps models.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, container platforms, and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and enterprise governance.
- Proven ability to build scalable, reusable platform services across multiple regions and business units.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence in a matrixed organization.
