Senior Snowflake Platform Administrator

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Snowflake Platform Administrator to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will own the administration, security, and reliability of a critical Snowflake data platform supporting business operations in a regulated environment. You will partner closely with data engineering and infrastructure teams to strengthen governance, improve performance, and ensure the platform scales efficiently. The position also plays a key part in automation, CI/CD enablement, and disaster recovery planning across development, testing, and production environments. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Manage Snowflake accounts, databases, and user access with a strong focus on security
• Implement data governance and protection measures, including encryption and access policies
• Tune and optimize virtual warehouses for performance and cost efficiency
• Oversee development, testing, and production environments with disaster recovery strategies
• Diagnose and resolve Snowflake performance issues and capacity planning
• Automate platform processes and support CI/CD pipelines through scripting
• Document platform architecture and maintain operational runbooks

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data platform or data engineering roles, including 5+ years in Snowflake administration in production
• Deep experience with RBAC, security design, and data governance policies
• Strong skills in warehouse tuning, performance optimization, and cost management
• Proficient in infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD using tools like Terraform and dbt
• Advanced SQL, with a preference for Python and strong data warehousing fundamentals
• Experience with Snowflake on AWS, especially in managing external stages

Pay

Compensation: $139,000 – $176,700 annually
