To support this priority, we are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to partner with site-level operations teams, execute company WHS policies, and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles and Kaizen events to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks, fostering a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.

About the role

In this role, you will build trust and influence change across cross-functional operations teams through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. You must be an effective communicator, delivering clear, concise, and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. You will train operations leadership and site WHS professionals in company EHS policies and assist regional teams in incorporating safety standards. Your experience in safety programs and relevant operational knowledge will be crucial in developing a team of safety managers and professionals, executing leadership development plans, and assessing safety talent for current and future business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.
  • Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and identify corrective action plans for deficiencies.
  • Ensure accurate safety record keeping, data integrity, and reporting to support business safety initiatives.
  • Deliver on-time, high-quality projects to Operations teams.
  • Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively and propose action plans to senior leadership.
  • Audit record-keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries for compliance with global standards and local regulations.
  • Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
  • Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Safety Associates at your assigned site.
  • Engage Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long-term strategic actions for incident reduction.
  • Perform targeted Kaizen events in partnership with Operations teams to address identified risks (force, repetition, and awkward postures).
  • Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their safety responsibilities under each policy.
  • Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training, including trainer qualifications.
  • Review and revise deployed safety tools to ensure continual improvement.
  • Partner with corporate and regional field safety personnel to integrate global best practices into NA network standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
  • Work in environments with variable noise levels and temperatures (including outdoor loading areas).
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (where applicable).
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist with emergency response at the site.
  • Obtain adult First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 3 weeks of start date if not already certified.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in people and performance management.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, to support direct reports and site needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple business units.
  • Prior experience in a management development training program.
  • Track record of effectively managing a safety operation with both salaried and hourly staff.
  • Experience developing others into higher levels of responsibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Pay

Base salary range: $134,700.00 - $182,200.00 USD annually.
