Senior Site Civil Engineer, Amazon Leo
About the role
The Senior Site Civil Engineer plays a crucial role in the Ground Systems development team, focusing on the design and development of ground station sites for the Leo Ground Gateway and Telemetry, Tracking, and Control (TT&C) Sites. These sites are essential for high data rate transmissions to and from Leo’s satellites and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Cook up coordination with internal teams and suppliers for design engineering and build-out of ground gateway sites
- Own the organization and processes to track program/project deliverables
- Create workarounds and solutions to remove roadblocks
- Review comprehensive design packages for antenna field, site civil, and overall infrastructure layouts for compliance with specifications
- Review contractor site documentation including vendor submittals and test reports for contract compliance
- Identify and communicate issues, risks, and dependencies to the internal engineering team
- Influence backlog prioritizing and manage escalations
- Write status reports for project health and updates
- Maintain records of as-built infrastructure drawings
- Support site build-outs and manage management of change documentation
- Verify as-built technical compliance and support acceptance testing
- Travel to construction sites, as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in civil engineering
- Licensed professional engineer
- Experience with foundation design and geotechnical engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural analysis or geotechnical engineering
- Gateway (teleport) or data center design experience
- Experience with analysis software (MathCAD, STAAD, RAM, Visual Analysis, SAFE, SAP2000, etc.)
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply codes and standards to design
- Familiarity with interpreting international building codes
- Field and international experience dealing with various standards, construction regulations, and bylaws
- Understanding of codes and regulatory requirements for design
- Understanding of steel, concrete, and masonry design practices
- Knowledge of CAD tools, such as AutoCAD
- Ability to produce complete construction documents with little oversight
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $137,300.00 - $185,700.00 USD annually.
