About the role
AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Signal Engineer to join our World Class Rail Team in our New York Metro Region.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review design plans and technical specifications.
- Coordination of project designs with other disciplines including attendance at project meetings.
- Review shop drawings, record changes and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors and client representatives as required.
- Prepare construction estimates and engineering budgets.
- Supports the installation, testing, and commissioning of rail based signaling, Automatic Train Control (ATC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) projects.
- Participates in all stages of a signaling project from planning and design to installation and commissioning.
- Develops detailed signal designs and systems, including at grade railroad crossing systems for both constant and fixed warning systems and traffic preemption functions.
- Develops Control Lines and Route and Aspect Charts.
- Performs Vital and non-vital processor programming.
- Performs feasibility studies and analysis, including braking calculations, control tables, routes and aspects, schematics, and phasing plans.
- Supports key stages of the installation, testing and commissioning of rail based signaling, Automatic Train Control (ATC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) projects.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related field + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- 10 years’ experience with designing Train Control Systems.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineering license (NY, NJ, PA).
- 15 years of experience of design, construction, testing and commissioning of Train Control Systems and Equipment with an Engineering Firm, Transit Authority or Signaling Equipment Manufacture.
- Experience with train control systems for one or more of the following: commuter rail, subway, freight, light rail systems and streetcar systems.
- Experience managing/lead designer for signal projects from conceptual design thru to final commissioning.

Pay
$210,000 to $220,000 annually.
