About the role

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Signal Engineer to join our World Class Rail Team in our New York Metro Region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review design plans and technical specifications.
  • Coordination of project designs with other disciplines including attendance at project meetings.
  • Review shop drawings, record changes and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors and client representatives as required.
  • Prepare construction estimates and engineering budgets.
  • Supports the installation, testing, and commissioning of rail based signaling, Automatic Train Control (ATC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) projects.
  • Participates in all stages of a signaling project from planning and design to installation and commissioning.
  • Develops detailed signal designs and systems, including at grade railroad crossing systems for both constant and fixed warning systems and traffic preemption functions.
  • Develops Control Lines and Route and Aspect Charts.
  • Performs Vital and non-vital processor programming.
  • Performs feasibility studies and analysis, including braking calculations, control tables, routes and aspects, schematics, and phasing plans.
  • Supports key stages of the installation, testing and commissioning of rail based signaling, Automatic Train Control (ATC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) projects.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related field + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • 10 years’ experience with designing Train Control Systems.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering license (NY, NJ, PA).
  • 15 years of experience of design, construction, testing and commissioning of Train Control Systems and Equipment with an Engineering Firm, Transit Authority or Signaling Equipment Manufacture.
  • Experience with train control systems for one or more of the following: commuter rail, subway, freight, light rail systems and streetcar systems.
  • Experience managing/lead designer for signal projects from conceptual design thru to final commissioning.

Pay

$210,000 to $220,000 annually.
