ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Appliance Intake & Grading
- Receive and inspect returned appliances from field service, returns, and logistics partners.
- Evaluate cosmetic and functional condition and accurately grade units as A, B, C, or D stock based on established company standards.
- Document findings, serial numbers, and disposition decisions in inventory tracking systems.
- Repair & Refurbishment
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on Composition Brand appliances (refrigeration, cooking, ventilation, dishwashers, etc.).
- Restore appliances to resale-ready condition in compliance with manufacturer and safety guidelines.
- Conduct final quality checks to ensure refurbished products meet operational and cosmetic expectations.
- Parts Recovery & Inventory Management
- Identify appliances that are not cost-effective to repair and systematically disassemble them for reusable parts.
- Test, catalog, and inventory salvaged components for future refurbishment or service use.
- Maintain accurate parts inventory records and ensure proper storage and labeling.
- Scrap & Disposal Management
- Oversee responsible disposal and recycling of non-repairable appliances and unusable components.
- Ensure scrap handling meets environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and mentor a junior shop technician (temp-to-perm) assigned to B-stock refurbishment.
- Provide hands-on training, workflow guidance, and performance feedback.
- Assign work, monitor productivity, and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Process Improvement & Safety
- Identify opportunities to improve refurbishment efficiency, recovery rates, and parts utilization.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and ensure proper use of tools and equipment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A technical school diploma or associate degree in appliance repair, HVAC, electronics, or a related field is preferred.
- EPA Certification (Type I or Universal) is required for refrigerant handling.
- At least 5 years of appliance service or repair experience, preferably with high-end or premium brands, is required.
- Strong diagnostic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting skills are essential.
- Proven experience refurbishing, rebuilding, or remanufacturing appliances or similar equipment is necessary.
- Familiarity with inventory systems, parts tracking, and basic computer documentation is beneficial.
- The ability to lead, train, and oversee junior technical staff is required.
