Senior Server, Storage & Network Engineer

About the role

Field-based infrastructure engineering role with a fast-growing Southeast VAR - design and deploy server, storage, and network solutions for K-12 and higher ed customers. This is a customer-facing role blending hands-on engineering, technical consulting, and project delivery across server, virtualization, storage, backup, and network environments.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer infrastructure, identify gaps, and recommend solutions that fit technical requirements, staffing, and budgets.
• Design reliable, secure, and scalable server, storage, virtualization, and network environments.
• Partner with sales and account teams on technical discovery, solution validation, and proposals.
• Lead customer deployments, migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure refresh projects.
• Install and configure physical servers, hypervisors, SAN/NAS storage, and backup platforms.
• Deploy and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and VPN solutions.
• Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex customer infrastructure issues.
• Design solutions for multi-campus environments, high-density wireless access, and large student/staff device populations.
• Contribute technical documentation for education procurement and E-Rate projects, as applicable.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, implementation, or advanced technical support.
• Strong hands-on experience across enterprise servers, storage, virtualization, and networking, with deep expertise in one or more areas.
• Experience with Windows Server and/or Linux, directory services, and virtualization platforms.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networking, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Experience with SAN/NAS storage, backup and recovery systems, and high-availability configurations.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Southeastern U.S. (75%), including occasional overnight travel.
• Availability for scheduled evening or weekend work tied to deployments.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
